On 27 December 2025, we were proud to see one of our interns published in Mainichi Shimbun, one of Japan’s leading national newspapers. In her article, she shared her journey of living in Japan as an international student and reflected on how her experiences shaped her both personally and professionally.

Being featured in Mainichi Shimbun is a meaningful milestone not only for her as a young writer, but also for our community. The article highlights the realities of studying abroad in Japan, from navigating cultural differences to finding a sense of belonging, and emphasizes the importance of communities that support growth beyond the classroom.

2025年12月27日、Global Villageのインターン生の一人が、日本を代表する全国紙のひとつである毎日新聞に取り上げられました。記事では、国際交流学生として日本で暮らす中での経験や、その経験を通じて個人として、また将来のキャリアに向けてどのように成長してきたのかが紹介されています。

今回の毎日新聞への掲載は、若手ライターとして歩み始めた彼女にとって大きな節目であると同時に、私たちGlobal Villageコミュニティにとっても非常に意義深い出来事です。記事には、日本での留学生活の中で直面した文化的な違いや、自分の居場所を見つけていくまでの過程が丁寧に描かれており、教室の外での学びを支えるコミュニティの大切さが伝えられています。

A central part of her story focuses on her experiences within our community at Global Village Yurakucho House, which she describes as one of the best decisions she has made in Japan. Through programs such as the “Building a Global Mindset” course, career consulting sessions, and a wide range of cultural workshops, including sushi making, ikebana, and Noh theater, she gained a deeper understanding of how delicate, refined, and thoughtful Japanese culture is.

Beyond cultural learning, she also participated in the Beyond Borders: Global Business Contest 2025, where she proposed an idea aimed at helping Japanese companies attract more international talent and succeed in the global market. After two months of intensive preparation, researching the Japanese economy, studying workplace culture, and applying insights from everyday life in Japan, her team won first place and was awarded 150,000 JPY. This experience became one of her proudest moments in Japan, demonstrating how learning, community, and challenge can come together to foster real growth.

記事の中で彼女は、Global Village有楽町ハウスでの経験を「日本での最良の選択の一つだった」と振り返っています。「Building a Global Mindset」プログラムやキャリアコンサルティングに加え、寿司作り、生け花、能楽ワークショップなど多彩な文化体験を通して、日本文化の繊細さや奥深さをより深く理解できたと語っています。

また、文化的な学びにとどまらず、「Beyond Borders: Global Business Contest 2025」にも参加しました。日本企業がより多くの海外人材を惹きつけ、グローバルに活躍するためのビジネスアイデアを提案し、約2か月間にわたる準備期間を経て、最優秀賞（賞金15万円）を受賞しました。

日本経済や職場文化についてのリサーチに加え、日常生活の中で得た学びを活かしたこの挑戦は、彼女にとって日本での滞在を象徴する、最も誇りある経験の一つとなりました。
