English Conversation: Speaking in Context

Content Overview

This course is designed for students with sufficient knowledge of grammar
and language ability who would like to improve their English communication
skills. Through the exchange of ideas, workshops, and team activities,
participants will have ample opportunity to express themselves in context to
reach mutual goals shared by team members...and improve their English in
the process!

【Outline】

Introduction: You and I (8/6)
- Learn to communicate effectively and leave a lasting first-impression
  in English.
Team Activity: What would you do? (Story 1) (8/20)
- Practice expressing your thoughts and ideas through hypothetical
  situations and stories.
Team Activity: What would you do? (Story 2) (8/27)
- This day builds on the previous session to deepen participants’
  understanding of the skills covered.
Team Discussion: Spaceship (9/3)
- Practice understanding other perspectives, expressing your opinions,
  and convincing team members to reach a unanimous decision in this
  dynamic workshop.
Team Discussion: Moon Landing (9/10)
- You and your peers find yourselves in a challenging situation with
  limited resources and decisions have to be made. What would you
  do?
Team Discussion: 5 Elements for a Good Leader and a Good Follower (9/17)
- Through group discussion with other participants, you as a team will
  have to decide 5 important elements for a good leader and a good
  follower respectively.
Team Activity: Elevator Pitch (9/24)
- Learn practical steps for delivering an effective 30-second pitch to
  convince or impress others and receive feedback from other
  participants.
Wrapping Up (10/1)
- Reflect on your experience through the previous sessions and take
  note of future goals. The journey toward effective communication in
  English continues even after this course!
